Happy 4th of July!

Mark your calendar
– The Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce is holding their 2nd Annual Golf Outing supporting the KMFP on July 17th.  See full details on our Home Page.  Your support of this event if possible is truly appreciated.

New KMFP Trustee – We would like to welcome Rev. Harry Anderson to the KMFP Board of Trustees.  Rev. Anderson is the pastor of Grace UMC (Union Beach) and Calvary UMC (Keyport) and will be an asset to the board.  The two (2) churches mentioned are part of the nine (9) original churches that comprise the Ministerium.  Welcome Rev. Anderson!
KMFP continues to experience  an increase in clientele – In June 2008 the KMFP served 100 families equating to 194 Adults and 132 Children (under 18); in June 2009 the KMFP served 181 families equating to 367 Adults and 282 Children (under 18).  Thus far June 2009 has been the largest number of families we have served since the founding of the pantry in 1983.  These numbers speak for themselves.

Food donations –  Every week someone stops by to donate food and with the increase of clients that we are currently experiencing every can of tuna or box of cereal that comes through our door means that we will be able to continue to serve so many families that are struggling to make ends meet.   We wish we could name all the Individuals, Businesses and Organizations that support us so that we can maintain our doors open but the number is too great.  All we can continue to say is Thank You on behalf of the clients we serve and all of us at the KMFP – We cannot do it without your ongoing support!

Fresh Produce – As some of you might know the Keyport Garden Club has been donating their fresh locally grown produce to our organization.  We can not begin to tell you how thrilled our clients are in being able to receive this great “Treat”.  Thank you to all the Keyport Garden Club members for all your hard work and donations.  Last month we received fresh produce from the Freehold Garden Club which was brought in by one of the Keyport Garden Club members and we would also like to say Thank You to them as well.  We have also been receiving fresh produce from the garden at the Community Church of Keyport.  John Wysocki a parishioner at the church stops by the pantry and drops off some great veggies.  We would like to say Thank you to the Community Church of Keyport for these great treats and Thank you to John for taking the time to drop them off.

KMFP New Building Project – Donations have been at a low for the last two (2) months and we understand due to the economic challenges being faced by so many.  We ask that you please help with any amount you can afford.  Every dollar counts.  Thank you!

In ending – As you might know our Registrar Maria Connors is the first point of contact when our clients come in to apply for assistance or receive their goods.  One of our clients came in with two (2) small children.  Maria checked her in and called in the order.  The client’s goods come out and as one of our volunteers was placing the packages in the client’s cart the little girl spotted a package which contained treats that is given to families with children.  Maria happened to have been standing by the door and noticed that the little girl was very excited so she asked her what she was so excited about and the little girl responded as she pointed to the package that she loved those treats because her Mom could not buy them.  Maria was very touched by this and told the little girl to enjoy her treats – the little girl gave her a big smile. As volunteers that big smile is worth everything we do for so many.

If you have any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to contact us via email or call us.  As always the KMFP Staff and Volunteers are very grateful for your continued support.
