This is a very special month for all of us at the KMFP. The Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry is celebrating its 25th year of service (1983-2008). We were honored and thrilled to learn that we will be receiving two (2) proclamations to mark this event. You are invited to join us, if at all possible, at one or both of these special occasions.

As I stated in last month’s message the KMFP held an open house on May 20th. Due to other commitments some of the invitees were not able to attend one of them being Freeholder Barbara McMorrow. Freeholder McMorrow re-scheduled her visit and we were honored to have had her and her Confidential Aide Susan Folta visit the pantry last month. They were able to see our operation first hand, meet some of our volunteers and Board of Trustees.
Our latest status:
- J & J contacted us requesting that we partner with them in conducting a food survey and we agreed. Ten (10) of our clients agreed to be interviewed and the survey was conducted on June 25th. We would like to thank Keyport American Legion Raritan Post 23 for donating the use of their hall to conduct the survey.
- An article on the KMFP was submitted by Maria Connors for publication in the Summer Union Beach Residents Newsletter. We would like to say “Thank You” to Mr. Luminoso for publishing the article. To view visit http://www.unionbeach.net/
- As most of you know we participated in the 2008 Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation Challenge. We will be receiving a modest grant and hope that next year we can raise more money to be able to receive a larger amount. “Thank You” to the Feinstein Foundation for awarding us this grant and an extra big “Thank You” to all our donors for making it possible for us to participate in this challenge. For 2008 Challenge results visit www.feinsteinfoundation.org.
- We would like to say “Thank You” to St. John’s UMC, Grace UMC and the Keyport Masons for their food donations.
- We continue with the research and submission of grant applications.
- Donations toward our new building continue to come in.
If you have any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to contact us via email or call us. As always the KMFP Staff and Volunteers are very grateful for your continued support.
