Flag Day, Happy Father’s Day and Happy Summer!

I would like to start this month’s message by saying that Mr. Sam Woods, one of our volunteers has not been able to come and assist us for a few months due to illness.  He is doing better and on the road to recovery.  Another one of our volunteers Mr. Raul Redondo had to take a leave of absence due to personal family reasons.  Both of these gentlemen have been with us for several years and have worked very hard.   All of us at the KMFP wish them well and hope to see them again real soon.

What is June 14th?  Most of us forget that it’s Flag Day.  Fly your flag with pride and honor and remember all the men and women that gave of themselves so that we are able to display our flag in a free country.

Father’s Day – Dad can I borrow the keys to the car……..Dad can I borrow some money……Dad can I……..and the list goes on and on.  It takes a very special man to be a father so on this day tell your Dad how much you appreciate everything he does for you and the rest of the family.  If your Dad is no longer with you think back on how much he did for you and say thank you in your own way.  A very Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads from the KMFP Staff and Volunteers.

First Day of Summer – June 21st.  Children are out of school so remember to drive carefully.  If you have children over the age of 13 who would like to volunteer to help us during the summer give us a call or email us.  It is a good way for your child to serve the community and learn what we are all about.  Last year we had two (2) wonderful volunteers – Caitlin and Jonathan.  They were very hard workers and we truly enjoyed having them during the summer.

The Post Office had their food drive May 13th and we were so fortunate to have benefited from their drive.  During the summer months food donations are very sparse so the food we received will definitely help us.  We would like to send a very “Special Thank You” to the Keyport and Hazlet Post Office Employees for their hard work in collecting the food and another very “Special Thank You” to all the residents who contributed toward this cause.

Our latest status:

  1. Cable Channel 22 is currently advertising our services.
  2. Researching a possible prospective in Keyport for our new facility.
  3. On May 31st our KMFP Registrar and I attended a conference hosted by the Statewide Emergency Food and Anti-Hunger Network (SEFAN) in collaboration with Ocean County Hunger Relief and funded by the NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA).  The purpose of this conference was for emergency food providers to come together, network and share information, ideas and challenges of the work performed.   We received a certificate of appreciation from SEFAN and we also received a fifty (50) dollar gift certificate toward food.  The conference proved to be very informative and we look forward to attending others.
  4. We continue with the submission of grant applications.
  5. We continue to receive donations toward our new building.

If you have any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to contact us via email or call us.  The KMFP Staff and Volunteers are very grateful for your continued support.
