Happy Independence Day!
We hope that you are enjoying your summer so far.
The 4th of July is a great day. We celebrate the independence of this great nation. As we enjoy the outdoor festivities with our family and friends always remember that many men and women fought and continue fighting so that we can enjoy the freedom we have today. Support our troops all over the world and hope for their safe return to their families and friends. Happy 4th from all of us at the Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry.
Our latest status:
- We have been discussing a potential site for our new facility with the Keyport Board of Education and have reached a tentative agreement pending several other factors that need to be discussed. Needless to say we are all very excited about this possibility.
- We participated in the 2006 Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation Challenge, which ran from March 1st – April 30th. This challenge is based on the amount of money raised from donations received between the periods mentioned above. We were very happy to have received a modest award and hope that next year we can raise more money to be able to receive a larger amount. With this said, we would like to say “Thank You” to the Feinstein Foundation for awarding us this grant and an extra big “Thank You” to all our donors for making it possible for us to participate in this challenge. The foundation has ask all the challenge participants to tell all our donors that you are now partners in what has become the most successful campaign of all times to fight hunger in America.
- We have applied again this year for the 2007 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). If selected this grant will greatly assist us in obtaining our new facility.
- We continue with the submission of grant applications and are anxiously waiting for replies on some that we have submitted.
- We continue to receive donations toward our new building. We ask that you consider making a donation regardless of amount toward this effort so that we can provide the communities we serve a broader range of services for which they are in dire need of to be able to survive.
If you have any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to contact us via email or call us. As always the KMFP Staff and Volunteers are very grateful for your continued support.
