Greetings,

The holiday season is always a time of year when we reminisce on the things that we have accomplished and look forward to a new year as a fresh start for things to come.  We at the pantry know that we could not have done it without you, “Our Loyal Supporters”, and hope that you continue to help us.  At this time I would also like to take the time to ask that you join me in saying “Thank You” to the pantry volunteers (Who We Are) who have given so much of their time and worked so hard throughout the year.  The Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry would not exist if it were not for the determination and dedication of these individuals.  Here is the latest status since my November message.

  1. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving we were able to distribute forty (40) turkeys with holiday bags (trimmings for Thanksgiving dinner) that were received from the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. As you can see the number was limited but we also received individual donations of turkeys and/or turkey breasts, stuffing, gravy and other trimmings that helped us provide holiday bags for some additional families.
  2. We have not had any feedback on the grants we have applied for as of yet but like the saying goes, “No news might be good news”. In the meantime, we continue our quest of researching and applying for other grants. Our most recent grant submission was to the Allen Foundation.
  3. The Township of Keyport continues to work with us in trying to acquire the land we need for our permanent location.
  4. We have added a picture to our website depicting what we envision as the ideal model for our new building. We have received publicity through newspaper and magazine articles, which has helped tremendously in making the public aware of our mission and goals.  To all the writers “Thank You” so much for your time and help.  Take a look under the News and Events.
  5. We continue to receive donations towards Our “New Building Campaign Fundraiser” and we are truly grateful.  Please remember no donation is too small so if you or someone you know is able to help us we truly appreciate it.
  6. Christmas is for the children and every year we take names of children whose family cannot afford to buy them Christmas gifts.  This year we have over one hundred (100) children from the communities we serve who will be receiving gifts thanks to the generosity of our sponsors.  Our sponsors consists of churches, individuals, etc., who “adopt” and buy gifts for the children, which consist of clothing and toys.  The gifts are delivered (or in some cases we pick up) to us and we distribute them to the families.  We would like to say “Thank You” to all the sponsors for being so generous and helping us put a big smile on these children’s face on Christmas Day.
  7. We continue to update our website with new information throughout the month so make sure you check our site regularly for the latest news.

Finally, the KMFP Staff and Volunteers would like you to know that there is no time more fitting than this season to say “Thank You” for all your support throughout the years and to wish you and your families a Happy Holiday Season and a New Year of health, happiness and prosperity.

See you in 2006!
